We have experienced so many answers to our prayers in the last couple of weeks. This makes us extremely thankful and we want to share some of them with you to praise God for what he has done!
Weeks ago we have started to prepare to move back to Germany. We had to sell a lot of things we bought in Scotland and had to cancel all the contracts for electricity, internet and so on.
It felt like I (Esther) was asking God for at least 10 different things each day. Many of them were quite practical concerns. And I have experienced that God helped us enormously and took care of everything we needed. I just want to mention a few things we experienced God’s help with:
- We could sell every furniture right in time. It was even possible to keep Theo’s cot until the last day which was super helpful.
- I was able to do all the cleaning without getting back problems.
- God was helping us to find a good way to say goodbye to our life and friends in Aberdeen. We could only meet one family at a time (because of the Corona-restrictions), which gave us more time to cope with all the emotions. We have been really encouraged by many friends.
- The heavy rainfall which was announced at Theo’s Birthday stayed away so we had a wonderful time with our friends in the garden.
- After heaving searched for days we found lost toys from the library right in time to give them back.
- Manuel’s deadline for his Master’s Thesis has been extended until September.
- We prayed a lot that it might be possible to travel through Scotland before we have to leave. And thank God restrictions were released and we found a motorhome (in Aberdeen!) which we could rent for two weeks!
- Right in the beginning of our holiday we scratched another car on a busy street in Inverness. Of course we have been really messed up at first. We didn’t know if the motorhome might need to be fixed for some days and if it would be possible at all to continue with our trip (At this point we didn’t had the flat any more to go back to!). But in the end we found very good solutions and the communications with our hirer and all persons involved was so friendly and benevolent that we felt really comforted. Especially Manuel was really comforted by the friendliness of the mechanics who fixed the motorhome.
- On one day during our trip we really needed to get a spot on a Campsite for the night (to refill our watertank and so on) and we got the last one!
- You can imagine we really had a lot of luggage on our flight back to Germany. We have been praying that somehow everything fits into our suitcases and we really experienced God’s help. A day before our flight we were informed that our first flight to London would be really crowed and that it would be possible to check in carry-on luggage as additional normal baggage. That was our salvation! J In the end our suitcases still were too heavy but we could check them in without any problem and everything else concerning our flights worked out good as well.
We are filled with gratitude and want to encourage you to trust God. He is absolutely capable to help in every circumstance and he is full of friendliness and grace and love for each of us. He even invites us to ask him like a child would do and tell him straight away what is on our hearts.
Jesus says in Luke 11:9-13
„Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
